Here we are in the middle of February and as projected, the seasons are 'a' changing. We find ourselves out playing more golf (hallelujah!) and busily marking our calendars with dates for all those famous Niner happenings. This article is directed to several exciting new changes which are geared to making the Oakmont Lady Niners even stronger. I'll start off by mentioning that our membership has seen another boost with the addition of new members Kris Peters and Cathy Cunningham, bringing our membership to 126 fun-loving, golfing gals. Welcome Kris and Cathy!
SWEEPS:
We began our 2011 Sweeps schedule on the 1st of the month. Presently our dedicated Thursday tee time slot is from 9AM to 10:30AM. When signing up please remember that the signup sheet for the following week is only available to us on that current Thursday and will be removed at the end of that day. Afterwards all signups need to be made by calling the Pro Shop or going into the Pro Shop and request the Clerk add you to the Lady Niners tee sheet. Sweeps Scorers for February are Joan Eiserloh and Arlene Keenley.
SPECIAL GAME DAYS:
Thursday, February 24th: The game is "Yellow & White" and means that we will alternate the tee box we drive from. Many thanks go to the wonderful team of Janie Rietow and Joan Eiserloh, who have created some terrific games for us to enjoy throughout the year. And, don't forget that March 17th we'll celebrate St. Patty's Day in style with our Get Acquainted and Wearin' O' the Green Tournament and Luncheon. Oh my, here come those cute little leprechauns (Val Boot, Linda Frediani, Isabel Ashcraft, Sheryl Ashcraft, Jackie Carpenter and Janet Pyne) Wellmanwearin'o'the green and tossing about four leaf clover and pots of gold. This is a yearly favorite that not many of us choose to miss! Signup sheet will be posted soon.
UPCOMING NEWS FROM CAPTAIN JOANN:
Hello Lady Niners, this year we will implement a new signup method for our luncheons and tournaments similar to the Wednesday Men's Club and Twilighters with automatic billing done by the Club. We will post a signup sheet for the event in the East Pro Shop, you sign up with only your name and your OGC account number. The club will bill you directly which means you won't be putting a check into the Niner Box. Should you prefer not to be billed directly, then when you sign up you will need to take your check over to Carol in the Oakmont Golf Club Business Office, she will post the check to your account and you will be paid in full. This billing method will help us all, but most important is that it will ease the burden on the Luncheon and Tournament Chairs. But just like the Twilighters, please remember if your name is on the sign-up sheet, you will be billed even if you do not attend the event.
The second item that I'd like to share is that the Lady Niners have been approved to increase our play with both 9-holes on Tuesday and Thursday with dedicated tee times. Please stay tuned, I promise more details will follow! ~ JoAnn

Thanks to our February Sweeps Scorers: Shirley Dinwiddie and
Jean Meyer. Our tee times will be 8:00 - 9:30 starting March 3rd.
MARCH 17th TOURNAMENT & LUNCHEON
There's still time to sign up for our combined "Get Acquainted" and
"Wearin' O' The Green" Event. Golf tournament will be a Mixer
(great time to meet some of our new members) with a 9:00 a.m.
Shotgun start on the East. Then we gather at the Quail Inn at
11:30 a.m. where the fun will continue. Remember when you
sign up, your OGC account will be billed directly. Speaking of new
members, let's welcome Jane Fulkerson and welcome back our
lovely Social Member, Ronnie Christy. We now have 100 golfing
members and 28 Social members.
Besides playing on our wonderful home courses we have many
travel games scheduled through NBWGA (North Bay Women's Golf),
WRENS (Women's Redwood Empire Niners), and PWGA. Check
out the East Pro Shop bulletin boards for details and sign ups.
